Uniform Policy
DRESS CODE / UNIFORM CODE
Flynn & O'Hara supplies KCA uniforms. Uniforms can be ordered by filling out an order form (available in the school office) or by visiting the website: www.flynnohara.com. Some uniform items may also be found in local stores.
Used Uniforms are also available, however, sizes and styles cannot be guaranteed. These are procurable on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact the school office at
- Lower School - Regular uniforms are worn on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On Wednesday students wear the chapel uniform.
- Upper School - (Grades 7 - 12) - Regular uniforms are worn on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. On Thursday students wear the chapel uniform.
- Shoes must be enclosed and comfortable for physical activity. Athletic shoes should be worn for physical education classes. Sandal-type shoes must have a back strap.
- All uniform items must be clean and in good repair.
Regular Uniform (Worn daily except chapel days)
All students must wear a blue or white polo shirt embroidered with a KCA logo on it. All shirts must be tucked in. Shirt sleeves may be short or long.
Girls
· Skirts: may be KCA red plaid, navy blue or khaki pleated skirts. Must be knee length or longer. It is recommended that shorts be worn under the skirts.
· Jumpers: may be KCA red plaid only. They are highly recommended for grades K though 2nd, and are available through grade 5th. Must be knee length or longer. It is recommended that shorts be worn under the jumpers.
· Slacks: Girls may wear navy blue or khaki slacks in the winter when the temperature is below 35 degrees. Must be a modest fit, not skin tight. Belts are required.
· Shorts: Uniform shorts of khaki or navy color may be worn during the months of August, September, May and June. The length of shorts must reach the knee. Belts are required.
· Socks: must be solid red, navy blue, white, or khaki in color. Short or long socks are acceptable.
· Winter options (November through March): Leggings, tights or long socks in solid red, white or navy blue may be worn under the skirts on cold days. Pants that could be/are worn without a skirt (such as sweat pants) will not be acceptable as a substitute for leggings. Solid red, white or navy blue sweaters, cardigans, or turtlenecks may also be worn with uniforms. Long sleeve Tee-shirts of solid red, white or navy blue may be worn under the KCA logo shirt. Students in Grades 6 to 12 only may wear the approved logo sweatshirts.
Boys:
· Trousers: may be navy or khaki trousers.
· Shorts: Knee length uniform shorts of khaki or navy color may be worn during the months of August, September, May and June.
· Belts: Boys in grades 2 through 12 must wear a belt with their trousers or shorts. Not required/recommended for boys in Kindergarten and 1st grade.
· Socks: must be solid navy blue, white, or khaki in color.
· Winter options (November through March): Solid red, white or navy blue sweaters, cardigans, or turtlenecks may also be worn with uniforms. Long sleeve Tee-shirts of solid red, white or navy blue may be worn under the KCA logo shirt. Students in Grades 6 to12 only may wear the approved logo sweatshirts.
Chapel Uniform (Wednesday for Lower School and Thursday for Upper School)
Wednesday is formal uniform day for chapel for lower school and Thursday is formal uniform day for chapel for the upper school (grades 7 - 12) All students must wear white shirts and must be tucked in. Shirt sleeves may be short or long. A white tee shirt may be worn underneath the white shirt. However, NO colors, printing or sleeves should be seen. If winter requires warmer clothing indoors, it is acceptable to wear solid red, white or navy blue sweaters/cardigans with uniform.
Girls: may only wear the red plaid skirt or jumper, white buttondown/peterpan collar blouse, and solid white, red or navy socks. No shorts or slacks.
Boys: may only wear navy blue trousers, white buttondown collar shirts, and navy socks. No shorts. Belts are required for boys in grades 2-12. Collar and top shirt buttons are to be buttoned. A solid red, navy blue, or KCA red plaid tie is required for all boys. Ties are to be slid to the top so as to present a neat and presentable appearance.
The last Frday of each month will be a casual day. Other casual days or non-uniform days are scheduled or awarded throughout the year, and are advertised on the school calendar or weekly newsletter. Students are not required to wear uniforms on these days. Jeans and T-shirts are okay. Inappropriate sayings or pictures are not allowed on T-shirts. Clothing should be modest and in keeping with our Christian philosophy. Clothing with slogans promoting alcohol, cigarettes or displaying inappropriate themes is not allowed. Play clothes, such as halter-tops and bathing gear, and laboring clothes are inappropriate.

No male is allowed to wear an earring.

Girl's dresses/skirts shall be knee length or longer.

Hair shall be of a natural color, not fall in the eyes, or be styled in a fashion deemed extreme by administration.
